What is Family Peer Support?
Family Peer Support is the support that is provided by a family member of a child who has experienced living with an emotional, social, behavioral, and/or substance use diagnosis who helps parents who are going through similar challenges.
This experience is referred to as “lived experience.” To be potentially employed to provide Family Peer Support Services as a Kentucky Family Peer Support Specialist (KFPSS), or services as a Kentucky Youth Peer Support Specialist (KYPSS) there are some requirements. Meeting the requirements and completing the Core Competencies Training does not guarantee employment.
