In April 1998, a statewide parent group called the Statewide Partnership of Kentucky for Effective Support (SPOKES) and a statewide professional group called the Kentucky Family Based Services Association (KFBSA) merged, to become the Kentucky Partnership for Families and Children, Inc. This merger represented an important historical milestone for the Commonwealth, as KPFC became a key platform in providing one, united voice to improve services for children with emotional, social, and behavioral challenges across Kentucky.
As the name implies, bringing parents and professionals together – in an authentic, solution-focused relationship – is the core essence of KPFC. We are so grateful for the countless partnership opportunities that have been generated over the past 25 years, and we look forward to all of the ones that still await us as we continue our mission and vision into the future.
KPFC’s united voice works to:
- effect policy changes at the state level,
- educate legislators about the needs of children with severe emotional disabilities and their families,
- improve access so that all children and families can receive appropriate services in their home communities, and
- provide a voice to the youth and families who live with behavioral health challenges on a daily basis
