Family Guide Companion to the Kentucky Early Childhood Standards – The Kentucky Governor’s Office of Early Childhood partnered with National Center for Families Learning and Kentucky Education Television’s Let’s Learn Kentucky to create the Family Guides, which use family-friendly, everyday language describing strategies and activities that families can use on a daily basis to encourage learning.
First Steps – First Steps is a statewide early intervention system that provides services to children with developmental disabilities from birth to age 3 and their families. First Steps is Kentucky’s response to the federal Infant-Toddler Program. First Steps offers comprehensive services through a variety of community agencies and service disciplines and is administered by the Department for Public Health in the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

EPSDT: Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment – provides preventative health care for children and teens; specialty health care for medically necessary services.
LHD: Local Health Departments – provide WIC, nutrition, breastfeeding, and other women’s health services. LHD also provide pediatric health services including child physicals, immunizations, fluoride varnish, lead screening and case management, and infectious disease services.
