Membership
The Kentucky Partnership for Families and Children Board of Directors is one of the most unique and rewarding ways to help youth and families navigating behavioral health challenges.
Consistent with national Standards of Excellence for Family-Run Organizations from FREDLA*, the KPFC Board consists of a minimum of 51% of family members who are representatives of the customers and communities we serve.
- A Parent/Primary Caregiver Representative is a person who is raising a child with one or more behavioral health challenges. Examples include: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Substance Use Disorder or disability (SUD), and/or other conditions. Parent and Primary Caregiver Representatives share their own perspective and voice, as well as those of other parents and caregivers in their region of Kentucky.
- An Agency Representative is an employee of a state or private agency that provides services to families and children, with special knowledge around behavioral health challenges and ways to navigate systems for help. Agency Representatives share resources, strategies, and partnership opportunities with KPFC.
- A Youth Representative is a young person between the ages of 16 and 25 who has lived experience with a behavioral health challenge. Examples include: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Substance Use Disorder or disability (SUD), and/or other conditions. Youth Representatives share their own perspective and voice, as well as those of other young people.
Service and Commitment
- Serving on the KPFC Board of Directors involves attendance and participation in four, quarterly full board meetings each fiscal year (July 1 through June 30). Two of these meetings take place in person (Annual Board Retreat and holiday meeting), and two are conducted virtually.
- Each board member serves on one or more board committees, which involves virtual meetings on an average monthly basis.
- All board members are asked to participate in one or more large-scale agency event each year – such as Children’s Behavioral Health Awareness day – as their schedule permits.
- There is no fee required to join or serve on the KPFC Board of Directors. Instead, board members are expected to contribute to KPFC through time, talent, and task completion. KPFC board members may also choose to contribute financially in the form of monetary or in-kind donations, should they wish to do so.
